Capture the Moment in Irvington

The Irvington Historical Society's First Annual Photo Contest is in progress. The Society wants to receive for display, preservation and future reference, photos which show the beauty and or unique character of "our wonderful Village." The Society is looking for that one photo each year that will become its "collector's item" to be reproduced in limited edition for the Society's benefit.

There are no age or residency restrictions but there is a limit of five photos that can be submitted, and they must be submitted by June 19. They may be mailed or delivered to the History Center at 131 Main Street, Irvington, NY 10533. The Center is open on Thursdays and Saturdays from 1 to 4 pm.

A submitted photo may be in color or black and white, not smaller than 5x7" and not larger than 8x12" and can be mounted or framed. They must have been taken within the Village of Irvington during the past three years, and accompanied by a completed Entry Form specific to each picture.

All photos submitted which comply with the Contest Rules will be displayed for a month in the History Center. Viewers can vote on their favorites. Contest judges will select ten "finalists" (to include the three publicly elected favorites), and from these will choose the contest winning entry. The Society plans to display a different one of the ten finalist's photos each month on its web site: www.irvingtonhistoricalsociety.org.

The creator of the winning photo will be required to grant the Society the right to reproduce and utilize that photo in any form. The Society anticipates that the limited edition reproductions will be numbered and signed by the photographer. Contest Rules and Entry Forms are available at the above web site and also at the History Center. Please come and visit us, and enter your creative talents for this contest.
