Washington Irving School Awash in Pirates

The Family YMCA at Tarrytown's peerless After School Theater program this fall sets sail with great fanfare as they present over 90 children in the delightful 1879 operetta Pirates of Penzance by W.S.

Gilbert & Arthur Sullivan, on November 8 and 9, 2006.

Funding for YMCA After School Theater programming comes from Westchester Community Foundation, the Foundation for the Public Schools of the Tarrytowns, and the YMCA. This musical production, with actors in fourth, fifth and sixth grades, will be directed by Peter Royston. Local musician Steve Tubin will provide musical direction for this timeless operatic production.

"Our YMCA is the only one we know of that offers a theater program of this depth and quality to such young students. says Barbara Turk, Vice President of the YMCA.
