Season Opener Briarcliff 32, Irvington 29

In what could be termed a seesaw contest with both teams gaining and losing the lead, the Briarcliff Bears defeated the Irvington Bulldogs on Saturday, 9/10. Due to a more than soggy field at Irvington High School [the home team] the game was played on turf at Woodlands High School.

Irvington took an early lead and exhibited a solid running game while Briarcliff showed supremacy in the passing game. Both teams came up with big scoring plays. Irvington scored a touchdown on a blocked punt while Briarcliff scored on a passing play that went 78 yards.

The game went to the wire and when the clock ran out, so did Briarcliff players and fans who jumped for joy on the field.
