Holiday Toy Drive at Open Door Family Medical Centers

Open Door Family Medical Centers annual Holiday Toy Drive and “Santa Days” have become a welcome source of Holiday cheer for underserved families throughout Westchester and Putnam Counties. Each year, the Open Door Foundation collects toys for children from families of less fortunate means, with the gifts handed out by Santa himself at six Open Door Medical Centers in the area. This year, Open Door hopes to distribute more than 2,500 toys.

Open Door, a non-profit pioneer in community-based primary medical care, serves more than 55,000 patients each year, many of whom would be otherwise unable to afford quality health care, living at or below the federal poverty line.

Local residents who wish to donate are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys for newborns through 14 year-olds (valued up to $20) to any of six centers including: Mount Kisco at 30 W. Main Street; Ossining at 165 Main Street; Port Chester at 5 Grace Church Street; Sleepy Hollow at 80 Beekman Avenue; Brewster at 155 Main Street, Suite 101 (lower level) and in Mamaroneck at 689 Mamaroneck Avenue. Donations are accepted through December 15th.

Toys are distributed during Santa Days at Open Door Family Medical Centers through December 19th, and the organization seeks volunteers to help staff Santa Days and provide help with decorating, setting up toy zones and more. Volunteers are also needed to help with everything from gift-wrapping and toy sorting, to toy drive pick-ups. High School and College students, adults, or middle school students with parents/adults are welcome!
