I was just looking at some childhood pictures of my brother, Steve Steiner. In them, he often appears to have the expression of someone who quietly knows something that no one else knows. Steve passed away on June 11, 2010, in Boston. When I saw him in recent days, that characteristic expression was still there, as he confronted his illness with calm courage. Steve lived to help others, especially those he loved. Steven H. Steiner was born in Sleepy Hollow, at Phelps Memorial Hospital, the youngest of the Steiner family. He attended Transfiguration School, Tarrytown Public Schools, and Hackley School, graduating from Hackley in 1973. Steve's earliest years were spent in the Crest; later the Steiner family lived in Wilson Park. During Steve's high school years, he played lacrosse and competed in motocross.
The succeeding years took him to the Northeast; he earned his MBA from the University of New Hampshire and, then, he went to work for Coopers & Lybrand until 1996. For the past fourteen years, Steve served as the CFO of Potpourri Group, near Boston.
Foremost, Steve was a loving husband and father. He was an active member of his community at North Attleboro, MA. He is survived by his loving wife Stephanie, his father, Leopold, and his daughters: Elise, Allison, Caroline, and Nicole. Steve was one of four siblings including Elizabeth Ann DiGaetani, Lorraine Joan Larkin, and myself.
